Day 1 Planning Meeting

Placement Planning Meetings usually take place in the house where the family will be living, not Canon Lodge. This will have been communicated to the LA Social Worker and can also be checked by calling 01823 351785 to ensure you arrive at the correct building.

All progress meetings, review meetings and professional meetings, visits and weekday contacts with friends and family are held at Canon Lodge. It is very disruptive for the children for strangers to visit the houses so please assume your meeting is Canon Lodge unless you have arranged otherwise.

Directions to Orchard House Middleway and Orchard House Greenway Road will be provided once your assessment is arranged.

By car

The postcode TA1 1SW will get you to Canon Street. There is a large pay and display car park halfway down Canon Street. If you park and then walk back to Canon Street, we are on the opposite side of the road, slightly to the left.

Taunton is easily reached from J25 of the M5. Follow the main road into Taunton and then follow the signs to the cricket ground. Go past the entrance to the cricket ground car park and then turn right at the roundabout, and this is Canon Street.

By train

Taunton train station has easy links to Plymouth, London and Birmingham.

Come out of the station, turn left onto the main road.

Follow this road until you reach a main road on the left. It will be just after a William Hill bookmakers. Turn left again and follow the road over the bridge, past the cricket ground on your right.

Just after the cricket ground, turn right down St Augustine Street and follow to the end where there is a crossroads. Turn right onto Priory Avenue, follow it past the other entrance to the cricket ground and to a roundabout. At the roundabout turn right. This is Canon Street. Canon Lodge is about half way down on the left.
